Looks fantastic, though I'll need to go look up what an astrolabe even is.
The quality looks very nice though. Good job!

Well that took some work. Fantastic results. What got you interested in this project and what did you use for source material to calculate it all out? Tim

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I haven't checked this thread for awhile. I found an Astrolabe generator at "The Astrolabe Project" www.astrolabeproject.com/I used the files to make an astrolabe for my latitude (Boise, Idaho). Some problems were encountered with the files generated. They were in EPS file format and required a file conversion so that I could use them on Vetric VCarve Pro. Managed to get them converted with InkScape but that wasn't totally acceptable and I ended up redrawing a lot of lines and replacing all of the text.
I became interested in the Astrolabe when I was doing a couple of geared Sun, Moon, Earth Orrerys. An orrery is a mechanical model of the Solar System that shows the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons according to the heliocentric (Sun-centred) model. I also built a Roman portable geared Byzantine sundial calendar that used many of the same calculations for the Astrolabe. I posted the sundial calendar on this forum link
