Is there a location where I can input an exact number for the thickness of the puck?

I am assuming you have a B18 controller, since you neglected to give us any info. Hockey puck (Tool touchoff) issue
I have my toolset speed lowered to 150.0. I lower it fast with the controls wit the bit NEXT TO THE PUCK. When it's close I push the puck under the bit. This makes it still fast, but you don't break bits.

Toolset speedKind of a harsh greeting for a new member don't you think? He may not be as proficient as you since he is a new owner and poster!!

I have an AR8 PRO V5 with a B18 controller and aspire software. The puck is about 0.995". When I use the puck to set the zero height will the machine assume that the puck thickness is 1" and make the cuts 0.005" deeper. Do I have to adjust the thickness of the work piece in the software to compensate for the actual puck thickness?

Machine "assumes" all inputs are precisely correct. CAD thickness is set in metric and will be set at 25.4mm from the manufacturer. If your puck is actually .995" then set your CAD thickness to 25.27mm.
