These kayak cradles for my roof rack have been bouncing around from work surface to work surface in my shop because they aren't always on my roof rack bars now that I've started paddle boarding more often than kayaking. I needed to store them on the wall but up tight against the wall because my 18' kayak is hoisted to the ceiling pretty close to that wall (as well as a windsurfer)...if something stuck out too far from the wall it could be a pain and/or damage my fiberglass kayak. I finally sat down to figure something out this morning and realized I could use a couple of strap slots that were in each cradle to slide in and snap onto a pair of 1/4-20 carriage bolts. I happened to have a whole mess of those from various trailer projects. Recognizing that straight lines are boring, I put the router into action cutting some pre-finished plywood. The router did it all - counterbored holes for blind nuts to hammer into the backside and boring through holes for the blind nuts and mounting screws. Viola.
