Hi all!
I've got a file saved from VCarve onto a flash drive as a Vectric CRV file. Nothing reads on the Axiom when I plug the Flash Drive into it.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in Advance.

You need to create a post processor file depending on which Axiom you have. This is done under Save Toolpaths in Aspire and should be similar in VCP. My post processor file type is a .mmg file. Regardless, when I scroll through my usb drive it shows other file types. The pendants/controller take a very basic USB drive. I have a handful of 8gb Kingston DT101 G2 drives that I use. So, what type of USB drive are you using?

I'm using a very simple USB that I got from a vendor. It's a 2.0 and only 4GB, so I thought it should be fine. Wondering if it's formatted correctly.
I'm trying to use with the saved tool paths now as .mmg files.
I'll let you know.
Thank you for the response.

That should work. I usually save my .mmg files in individual project file folders. This does require me to open the file folder and then the .mmg file when I want to cut something. Dan

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I don't believe I'm unable to find it in the right format.
I plug the USB into the top of the pendant and go through the menu to open and it tells me that there's nothing there?
Am I not following the opening procedure correctly?

Hopefully my pictures will help some. I am using the A11E pendant. The first file shows various files and file types on the USB Drive. After turning on the CNC I had the machine do a home routine and then used the Y+ button to move the gantry away from me. Then I pressed the Run/Pause/Delete button and it asked if I wanted to use the USB drive. I pressed OK to confirm. Next the pendant started showing files available on the USB drive. This one shows various files on the drive. I then scrolled down using the X- button to get to the files folder for some concrete bench legs I was working on. I pressed OK when I got to that file folder and then would do an X- to the particular mmg file I wanted to run. I would then press OK. Hope all this makes sense. You can PM me if you need to discuss more.

Can you upload one of your output files so we can verify that it has the correct data in it?

Sounds like you are saving the Vcarve file to the USB stick. You need to use the Save Toolpath function in order to export an executable GCode file. You need to click this button in V-Carve and then select the correct Post Processor so the GCode is formatted correctly. Once you save the file from that operation, your pendant will recognize it.

Hi all! I've got a file saved from VCarve onto a flash drive as a Vectric CRV file. Nothing reads on the Axiom when I plug the Flash Drive into it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in Advance. CRV files are Computer Aided Design (CAD) files which are used in the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) step to generate G-code usable by the machine. The CAM step is toolpath generation and then using the appropriate Axiom post-processor file (.pp) you save a text file that contains the G-code. Depending on the machine this G-code file can be .txt .tap .mmg or many other file extensions that the specific post-processor defaults to but they are all plain text files that you can edit with Notepad, Word or any other editor. Axiom has three different post-processors that are used by their different controllers. The controller looks for a specific file extension. You can rename the file but its best to use the correct post-process supplied by Vectric or Axiom.

Had other job duties take over for a couple of weeks here...
Here's current status: I've got the .mmg file on the flash drive. I've got the router reading the file and moving to the program. All good, except...
Where I'm setting the origin on the tool path and where I'm setting the origin on the machine are the same, as far as I know, but if they're both set to the lower left corner, the program starts running to the left of that. So how do I correlate where I place the work piece on the table and where the origin is in the tool path???
I think I'll be off to the races if I can get this part figured out.
You guys have been a ton of help and I genuinely appreciate any time taken to help me get ths thing going.

In V Carve, under job setup, is the Use offset box set? That can confuse things.

There are two areas to be concerned with in Vcarve (or Aspire) when it comes to the origin. You can specify where your origin is in the "Initial Job Setup" when you start a new file and in the "Material Setup" when you are starting to program the toolpaths. The material setup origin location will copy the initial job setup unless you change it. Changing the origin location will mean you need to recalculate all toolpaths. You can set your origin on any of the four corners of the work space or in the geometric center of the workspace. If it's trying to start to the left of your origin (and that is a problem), you either don't have your origin set right on the machine or you don't have it set correctly in VCarve. They need to match each other. There are a lot of good video tutorials on VCarve and Aspire on the Vectric website - that would be a good place to spend some time investing in a lack of frustration later. support.vectric.com/training-materialAttachments:

Gentlemen, Thank you one and all.
I've gotten our first project finished.
The origin problem stemmed from having the origin set in the initial setup, then having rotated the model a few times, I didn't know which corner was the original origin corner.
It was a fairly in depth first part, so I'm hoping for smooth sailing going forward.
Genuinely appreciate all the help!
