The electrician finished the wiring for my shop renovation and I moved the piece of junk Shark out and the Axiom in. Had to transport both on my trailer using 2 winches to unload here at the house. Had my youngest daughter on the large winch and my grandson on the small winch. I controlled where the cnc travelled on the ramp board. It worked perfectly and they were happy to help and I am real proud of them. Won't be able to get to it until either later today or tomorrow. The Shark went into storage for now and the Axiom came out. I wanted to get the Shark gantry centered to the cnc before I transported it but the crappy control box kept blowing fuses and I didn't have time to trouble shoot it. I've had over 2 years of nothing but troubles with that thing and their support is bad. I'll have to do a complete checkup on the Axiom 8 before it gets started on any projects.

Thank you. I have to slow down just a bit and get some other machinery situated. I've kept the dust collector in another room and will be placing it in it's spot now that the wiring is complete in that area. Since my Axiom is a demonstrator I need to do some maintenance on it. First thing will be draining the coolant, rinsing the lines and getting fresh coolant in the system. We still have to install new ceiling lights and resolve some loose wires on one end of the shop. I already spent a fortunes on electrical work so I'll need to do the lights some of the leftover work myself. I didn't plan on the need to change my main electrical panel but the results so far tell me it was worth the extra expense. My house was built in the mid-1960s and years of nit-wits getting into the wiring played major havoc. I do have to admit that it will be strange working with just the pendant. I liked using the PC and watching the progress of the work. The program showed where the bit was traveling and gave the time involved and time left. It also showed the progress in the gcode which was neat.

Got the dust collector setup. It includes a super dust deputy. Unfortunately they didn't include enough hose to reach from the collector to the dust deputy and I had to cut my longer hose. I'll see how things go before I order any additional hose. The hose for the coolant has the gunk in it and I'll most likely change it. I bought some hose for my old Shark CNC and didn't get it installed. Hope it works. One of the best things about getting it here is that I can pull stuff out of storage drawers and put in the drawers on the Axiom. That'll free up space for MORE TOOLS!!!! Looks like I'll have to get an extension cord for it. I think Lowes has one in the configuration I need, its around 9' long and costs between $15 and $20. I'll use my Veterans discount to lower that.

You can get the military discount at Home Depot as well. You just need your DD214!!

Hmmm I asked and they said only on Vets day and Memorial Day...Have to check again...
In this area with Bremerton Naval Base/Sub pens etc so close most businesses have caught onto the "military discount"...usually 10% or more...so I have a few of my DD 214's ready (even have it on my phone now ;-)
Being a Viet Nam era Vet I have to say it's a pleasant change to have the community appreciate our service instead of spitting on us and calling us names...

The Home Depot close to me (which is also next door to the Lowes I go to) told me that I needed to get a VA ID card. Apparently it entails enrolling in the VA health system. I picked up the application papers way back last year and they are still on my file. I found out that you can do it online. Also, I was told that the Home Depot Veterans discount is 5% and it only is given on certain days (probably same days that ricphoto indicated above). I'll eventually get the ID card they want me to have so that I can get whatever discount they give whenever that is. In the interim I'll buy most of my building and hardware needs from Lowes. I'm getting ready to buy the led shop lights and Lowes not only has them reduced but I'll get the 10% discount. That'll save enough for an endmill or more. I have to admit that having both of those stores handy to me is great. I needed some electrical supplies while the electrician was doing the sub-panel wiring. Home Depot didn't have any 1/2" conduit in stock and I went next door to Lowes - they only had 4 and I grabbed 3 of those.

I live in Franklin, Wisconsin and I get 10% on anything I buy at the Home Depot. I have not had any sort of time or day restriction yet.

If you read the terms of both Lowes and HD the military discount is available to retired veterans, active duty, and disabled year round. On those that have served less than qualifying for full retirement benefits, the 10% is available on Mem. Day, 4th of July, and Veterans. The DD214 must show that you retiredin the military not served in the military. For a while you good just ask for the discount, buy I think both started seeing that there were a lot of discounts. IMO

Dan...you might think about donating the Shark to some community 501c program (boys/girls club etc) so you can at least get a write-off out of it...but forewarn them that it's a P.O.S. so they know what they're getting into...bet they still jump on it...

ricphoto, I have a young lady, who wants to do monograms, interested in the Shark. But at this point I can't in good conscience sell it to her without it working properly. I'm also getting some response from NWA regarding the controller. Frankly, since I've had nothing but problems with the controller it might be best to find a controller that can work with the cnc. The bones are there. Someone had posted information about making a control box for the Shark and I grabbed his information. It even included sources for parts. I might pull it out of the archives and see what it would take to get it done. The next option is to buy a new controller board from NWA and have it installed. The last time I did that it took forever and didn't work the first time they sent it back to me. Yes, a donation is an option might be beneficial to a 501c program and it would benefit me by getting rid of a storage need. For now I have to resolve the coolant line situation with my Axiom. I'll use the other post for getting information on that. Thank you for your help.

I think it is easier to just get the 5% on the Lowes cc everyday on every thing. They won't let you get the 5% and the 10% military at the same time, my experience anyway. I am only eligible for served not retired.

It's been my experience that both HD and Lowes always offer 10% discount for vets at all the stores I've tried, even online.
