Shifting the learning curve over to HDPE and soft metals to explore what can be done with them... Little did I know you could bake pretty good looking large oreo cookies with the AR8Pro+... Grabbed a couple of scraps of 1/4" black and a 6x6 1/2" HDPE and using a dxf file from Buck4 over at the VCP forum...cut nice and quick with a 90 v-bit and cut out with an 1/8" o flute EM...bout 20 mins per outer layer and a matter of a minute or 2 for the cutout...still need to do a little clean-up and still working on the feeds and speeds but at least I won't go hungry ;-p

Very nice. Blown up, that would make a neat shop stool seat...albeit, expensive with that big of a chunk of HDPE.

Awesome results BTW.

Just a dozen? They're only 6" in diameter...sure you don't want more? ;-p

I was inspired by this thread to "bake" my own cookie. I did the router work about a year ago and finally got around to building the base. I got a Harbor Freight shop stool to use the pneumatic lift on it and made the base to fit it. The seat is Walnut and Maple. I first poured Famowood epoxy I got from Lowe's on it, but that was a spectacular fail. I must have mixed it incorrectly because it started hardening as I poured it, and the container got really hot. I managed to pull the epoxy off once it cooled a little and clean it up to try it again. Used the same stuff - better results, but fussy. Had to tend it for a while because there were lots of bubbles, even though the wood had 3 coats of polyurethane on it already (so it shouldn't have been allowing air in under the poly). Didn't mix enough the second pour, so I wound up buying some Ecopoxy, and that stuff worked a heck of a lot better. Not as fussy (even on fresh projects) and easily mixed. Thanks Ricphoto for the inspiration!

What about Aspen for the filling? Nice and white wood.

Over in YouTube, I found a vid from a guy in the Netherlands who makes zero-clearance inserts for table saws. He discussed that he uses a type of 3/4" MDF that is colored (in this case, black) all the way through. He listed this website as a U.S. source. Does anybody have any experience with using this for anything? www.forescolorusa.com/

Aspen is not something I come across in my neck of the woods. I checked out the website and requested a sample, we'll see what it looks like.

Darn, my Redwood cookie decided to make a quick spilt on me. This is 14" across and will also be a bench seat on a HF rotating base (Thanks for the suggestion) Tim

Looks good! No worries about the crack. If you fill it with epoxy resin like I did, the split won't get any worse so your effort won't go to waste. Mine is also 14" across.

JohnB, I looked up the company that you posted as www.forescolorusa.com They are down the street from me about 2 miles. I took a tour of the warehouse. Saw some fabulous CNC machines there. They sell the colored MDF to anyone. I am going to be purchasing product for many of our projects. If you fill out the contact form on their site, they will send you a nice collection of color samples they have in stock. Andrew HandyAndyInMtAiryNC

I too created the Oreo's and noticed that I did one reversed. Then I did the second (larger one) the correct way round. My grandson wants to eat them both though. Attachments:
