Finally got my A8 set up and together but running into a X "soft limit" error when I try and run a test file...Happens on all 5 of the files from the project...I've homed, set origin and touched off Z then chosen file then this error pops up...
Can't find any reference to this in the manual so looking for some insight
Thanks...Ric

You will get that message when your project has the cutter going out of the limit of the machine X, Y or Z axis. Check your orientation of the work piece. I have made the same mistake several times, when I am not paying attention.

A better explanation is the machine is telling you that the way you have your work piece mounted the spoil board, the router bit cannot move that far. I usually have my projects starting at the center of my work piece, but today, I went to make a cut and my setup had me starting in the left corner, which was out of the limit the router could get to.

and that's exactly what I just found...set origin on machine to center and file had it at upper left
Thanks Steve

That's why we're here! We all need some help from time to time. Me more than others mostly.

Often times I forget and run into this. I have the AR8 Pro. So I'll lay my piece out in Vectic Aspire and forget while doing so that I'm laying out my design along the X axis but my workpiece has to run along the Y axis because of its length (36 inches long) So in Aspire I have to change my dimensions by switching my X and Y and then rotating my design and I recalculate my toolpath. After I do this everything is how it's suppose to be, and the X+ soft limit out of range goes away.

Hello-Just wanted to thank you for posting this message. I have a newly aquired AR6 Pro and just learning the VCarve Pro software, slightly daunting. Your response to Ric is so easy to understand and solved my problem. Have a great day! Tina

Hello…new user with new machine and I’m hoping someone can help. I have been searching for soft limit issues because I am having the same problem. I have an AR8 Elite with RichAuto B58 controller. I’m trying to run the spoilboard surfacing program supplied with the machine, using the bit purchased with the machine. I have zeroed to front left, set z height off the block and then attempt to run the program. I get a X+ soft error. When I run X travel, the bit will hang over the left side of the spoilboard 1/8” and the right side about 1/2”

I was finally able to connect with Chad today. Although many parts are similar between the Pro and Elite models, the bed on the Elite is slightly different and requires a different file for surfacing the spoil boards. I was the 2nd person concurrently having the same problem so there was a little confusion with the response, but once we connected Chad was very thorough and it was a quick fix.

What was the fix? It would be good to add to this thread for anyone else with the same problem?

This error typically indicates that the machine has reached its predefined limit for movement along the X-axis. To troubleshoot this issue, you may want to check the settings in your CNC control software to ensure that the X-axis limits are correctly configured. Additionally, verify that there are no physical obstructions preventing the machine from moving along the X-axis. If the issue persists, it's advisable to consult the user manual for your CNC machine or reach out to the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. While troubleshooting, you might also consider exploring the Monport laser as an alternative, known for its reliability, ease of use, and affordability. monportlaser.com/collections/co2-laser-engravers/products/monport-40w-lightburn-ready-12-x-8-co2-laser-engraver-cutter-with-fda-approval?sca_ref=5031521.ka374VZjm3
