Is there a hand-held pendant replacement upgrade option available? With color screen, better text and maybe a stop button. Such as the Axiom elite pendant.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Is there a way to hook this machine up to a computer or large screen monitor? I like the look of the new controller on the Elite machines.

I have this request on the forum before and if not mistaken, the answer is no! There is a guy in Europe that has converted his Axiom to use a different pendant and it seems to work fine. I think his name starts with Stone something. I tried looking for for it, but can't find it.

You must be thinking of StoneyCNC. I think they are a European distributor of Axiom. Their stuff runs UCCNC control software with a P2-S pendant.

Getting your controller converted to use that pendant would be expensive and then you still need to purchase UCCNC and the pendant. I was looking for a larger pendant along the lines shown on Bainright and in some of the StoneyCNC videos.

as far as connecting it to computer, you would need to replace all of the brains of the unit to something compatible with whatever PC control software you wanted to use (or did you mean just to xfer files?).

Thanks for the information. I know the Elite Axiom does have a different controller.

Hey guys-
I’ve had my AR8+ for almost a year and love it. But I too am kinda over the richauto pendant. It’s okay for what it is, but I’m really frustrated by the workflow of making changes, re-exporting to flash drive, waiting for it in the pendant and restarting the job. Such a PITA, especially while I’m learning a new process, tool or material.
I spoke with Chad and it sounds like there are zero options unless you want to make a bunch of custom mods with no support. If they can make a machine to work across the pond with UCCNC, why in the world they not offer it as an option?
Sounds like the market is asking for a solution. I’m going to do some research to see what I come up with. If you guys hear of anything , please let us know.

It isn't that I'm all that smart, it's that the bar is just really low on this planet.

Ok, so I'm thinking I'll get started on an iPad interface. How nice will it be to see the actual filename of a carve instead of just the first 6 digits?

You may have missed it, but this has been discussed before: axiomprecision.proboards.com/thread/864/axiom-ar8-pro-uccnc-controlAlso missed: "It costs nowhere near that much. Send me your control box and I will install an Acorn, adapt your existing settings, include a Lenovo CNC-PC with Win10Pro, including Centroid Pro software for $1200. For the extra $600,(to your $1800 guestimate) I can install upgraded drivers and power supply to make your machine run to its abilities. Send the machine along with the control box and I will tune it also."

If y'all don't know who Gary Campbell is, then don't be put off by his "New Member"* status. Gary has been around this business for a LONG time. If he says "This will work" or "This is an alternative", then you can pretty well bet the ranch that it will.
* I have NO idea what it takes to get beyond "New Member" status here...time? number of posts?

A question for Gary...In that thread you linked, there were several mentions of steppers. I take it that there is not a path for the Axiom Elites (with servo motors)...or is that a different approach entirely? Sending you my "control box" would be problematical...since it consists of a huge drawer below the table that is 4' wide (located on the upper end of the (normal) Y-Axis of the machine.)

John... I didn't mean to exclude the servo machines intentionally. That said, I had a good chance to look over the control box for the stepper machines when I was pinch hitting for Michael Mezalick teaching a couple classes at AXIOM HQ. I did not do the same for the Elite, but am sure they take step & direction input, so other than wire length, possibly no difference.
Email me a couple pics of the controller layout, full hi rez if you can. My email is in my signature.
