Tiny little bit for that level of detail, eh? Yeah I used a large bit to do it first and then used a 1/32 bit to clean up the rifles. It was the Amana 46291 it's the same but I used on the Christmas ornaments and the same but I use to make the gold squadron emblems inside of the wings.

That is such a great bit to get fine 3D detail. I have to fight myself not to use it on bigger projects as it just takes too long to carve.

That is such a great bit to get fine 3D detail. I have to fight myself not to use it on bigger projects as it just takes too long to carve. Another bit to consider is the Amana 46280, it's more expensive but it has the same radius and taper but also has a 1" depth of cut, a 1/4" shank and is available in packs of 5 (64280-5) and uncoated (46280-U) versions too. Since coatings are meant for high-temperature machining (hard metals) it has little benefit for wood use besides looking nice so you can save some money on the -U version. Also, 2Linc has a nice selection, great prices and are quality tools but their normal bits are 2" long instead of Amana's 3" and don't have the large cut depth of some of the Amana's: www.2linc.com/endmills_plastic_wood.htmHaving the shorter bits gives you more clearance room for thicker stock but the shorter DOC is a disadvantage at times too.
