Here is some clarity on how I use the wedges. sometimes scrap blocks are used depending on the size of the work piece. I have also made other sized frames. The piece is held very solid with no movement. I still use tape in some instances but I hate it when doing through cuts and the bit picks up the tape, which then gums up the bit causing it to overheat. I use the wedges whenever I can. Precision collets can make a router a very fine tuned tool. Talking to the folks at Precision Bits.com I found out that they do testing of various brands of routers and say that most manufactures are turning out a very good product. When it comes to collets, not so much. Stock collets compared to precision collets can make a difference of several thousands run out. Collets need to be cleaned on a regular basis also to keep their accuracy. I was unaware of that until I talked to them. Their collets fit various router brands. They also are suppliers of precision bits and other stuff. I am very pleased with their products.
