The Reason I bought this machine. This is 60" in diameter. Content Added: All the parts,of this project have been custom made, including the flooring (7/8 Hickory Tongue and Groove). The inspired design was created using a 3/16 Down-Spiral End Mill and a 1/8" Two Flute for the tight corners. A few attempts were made initially to trick the Aspire software into creating the appropriate part size so that everything would fit together nicely. In the end, setting up the tool library and selecting a bit 0.010" smaller than the bit actually used resulted in a 0.005" allowance that allowed for a tight, well fitting, inlay. *Software allowance can be set which would allow for these fitting adjustments to be made in the design.*The inlay consists of 408 pieces, cut from Wenge, Walnut, White Oak, Maple, Cherry and Sapele. The individual parts were held-down using double sided carpentry tape, since clamps may have gotten in the way. 5/16" cutting depth was achieved in three passes at a low feed rate to prevent the pieces from coming off the tape. Layout of the parts was designed such that each part is radial from the center at a 22.5 degree angle with the grain direction splitting the angle in half. Unfortunately this did cause a waste of material. Attachments:
