My primary use for the Axiom is Production. Usually, with some kind of Jig. I need something to always align the Jig properly to the Origin and parallel to all that is Right and Holy.
Here, is the way I have done it.
I used two layers of 3/4" Baltic Birch. Regular Carpenters Glue was used, thinned just a little. Why thin it? If, used as-is, it is kinda thick and can build up in the center making the sheets a little bowed in the middle. The dimensions are 26 3/4" by 40".
I also had two pieces of pool table slate. Laid one on my table saw next to the fence. Placed one sheet on top of it. I believe in Working Edges and 90 degree corners so the lower right corner was The One. My son and I rolled the glue on and flipped the second sheet on top of the other. Carefully aligning both edges against the fence of the table saw. And the top sheet a 32nd forward of the bottom one. Ensures a perpendicular edge for trimming. Laid the second sheet of slate on top, let it dry for 36 hours. Trimmed to dimension and ready to drill some holes.
The smaller Grid is on 2"x2" centers and I use 1/4-20 Inserts in them. I like Woodpeckers Clamps when doing something like a Plaque and the bolts thread right into them. When using a Jig, I use nylon bolts on the corners and such to hold the Jig to the Bed. That way, if the Router rams into one, the nylon does not hurt the bit.
Note, I did not flycut the Bed. I flycut the surface of the Jigs instead. That way, any issues are cleaned up once.
I can provide the Crv and Mmg Files.
