Beer and Memories! My buddy had a tree in his front yard that was lifting his driveway so it had to go. But he wanted to do something cool with it. Had the tree guy save him a 4" thick slab. Asked me how long it had to season and I said "1 year per inch". So here we are 4 years later and he comes up with this idea to embed coasters from his favorite brew houses. Sure, I can do that. The round split along the crack which worked out because now the halves fit in my Pro V5 (2x4). I leveled it, built tenons, cut a 3/4" wide and deep track to put them in and flattened the halves before rejoining. Laid out the coasters where I wanted them to go, took a photo, imported into Aspire, made the vector layout and cut tryouts 1/8" deep. Cut into the round and it worked a treat - nice an level like they grew there. Epoxy the major crack, build a table to support it, inlay the coasters and cover the top with a UV epoxy so it can weather outdoors. Voila!

Hah! Cool idea and nice execution! Plus it's a good conversation piece.
Great job!

The big deal is we can talk about favorite times we had at each of those places while enjoying a pint. PLUS - we can dream about making version 2.0 in the places that need to be discovered!
