I have been using my Jtech laser for a number of years and just think I may have missed a step in my education and being a geek solved it one way but i know it may be something I missed. How does one use Vectric Aspire to negate the recovery height of the laser "end mill"?
I will as a matter of process take the mmg file open up the gcode and do a find and replace for the Z coordinates to 0.0 and then use that file. However there has to be something I missed , I even see it in material set up and I set that to zero. yesterday I forgot, and boy it added a large amount of time to a laser half tone picture job...

I'm not sure I understand "Recovery Height". Do you mean you don't want the laser to be picked up and put down in between non-cutting XY movements? I do this in Aspire by going to Toolpaths -> Material Setup -> Rapid Z-Gaps Above Material. I have both Clearance and Plunge set to 0.2 mm. I have also set Z-Gap above material to 6.35 mm for the Home/Start Position. I use these settings when I'm lasering batches of cutting boards I have arrayed in a 4x4 grid. I'll do 20-40 of these in a day so I try to cut down on unnecessary motion. Not saying it can't be optimized more, but that where I've set it.
