Just very recently I started a sign project, on my Iconic 8 CNC. I was about five minutes, or so, into the clearing phase with my 1/8" EM, when the spindle stopped spinning. I was in my shop, but at the opposite side of it, and noticed that the gantry was still plowing the spindle through the wood - sans bit spinning, before I was able to hit the emergency stop button. That piece of stock was ruined, of course, but I was able to get back into proper operation mode after restarting my machine. I'm just at my wits end, behind what happened, and wonder if anyone else had experienced and such behavior from their machines. If so, was the actual cause determined?

Mine was doing the same thing. Contact abuck@axiomtoolgroup.com (Austin) and he will guide you through checking for potential alignment issues and also send you pics on how to do a change in your box. Since that change, when my spindle stalls, it triggers an emergency stop, raises the spindle and you must shut down your system until vfr reading clears. After, when you home and rezero (Z) your work (may not be even necessary), it’ll ask you if you want to continue from that e stop! That’s perfect!

I will certainly do my best to give Austin a call (hopefully) sometime later in the day. At least, from what I've gathered via your information, there is nothing really serious that I should be alarmed about.
