Playing around with ideas for charcuterie boards, since they are all the rage now. Got some maple from a local mill and did some epoxy inlay. The other I made for my friends who sew, and is similar to something I saw an ad for, but those were made out of steel.

Those are both really cool. My sisters and nieces are very much into the old Singer feather lite machines so those would probably be popular with that crowd. I have not tried any inlays yet, but will get there eventually.

My wife does a lot of quilting and would love to make something like this for her. Where did you find the old looking Singer sewing machines? What software do you use and which CNC machine? I use Vectric Vcarve Pro and Axiom AR6 Pro V5. About how long was the machine work? What kind of maple, soft or hard? Keep up the great work!!

I do a lot of epoxy inlays in charcuterie...but I avoid to make it in the center of the board where all the cutting action happens. Charcuterie may not be used for cutting, but they can. And Epoxy is not the best to cut on...sharp splinters can get loose.
anyway, great job.

Raven - I took a screen shot of an ad for them on fb (made out of steel) and imported the pic into V-Carve Pro and traced the vectors, then cleaned it up using node editing. I've had an AR8 Pro for 7 years now. The piece is almost 12" x 18" and it took about 20 minutes to cut it out of piece of 1/4" plywood with a 1/8" bit. Attached is the file for the machine if you want to use it. The font is Tahoma, and the text height is about 1.95. I add the name on the "Machine" layer, then copy it to another layer, convert the text to curves, and snip the letters to make it part of the machine. sewing machine.crv (2.24 MB)

Pedro - Good tip for those who aren't aware of the danger of epoxy for cutting boards. When I make cutting boards, I do wood inlay, and never advise anyone to cut on a board with epoxy on it, because the epoxy will come off in the food. Everything I make is given away as gifts to people I know, and when I tell them not to cut it, they always tell me they wouldn't put a knife on it, even if I didn't tell them because they wouldn't want to mess it up. Attached are a couple of cutting boards with inlaid wood.
