I was cutting out this guitar(see pic) from a solid piece of mahogany. I got through two tool paths and was in the process of cutting the third profile tool path. At this point everything was perfectly fine.
The bit I was using was too long for the vacuum to work properly so I was vacuuming with a shop vac as the profile was being cut. I then accidentally knocked the controller off that little hook, it hit the ground and the spindle rose up and stopped???
Weird?
The controller had some random numbers(I didn't write them down?). I didn't know how to proceed so I ran the third tool path all over again. After a few minutes of the machine cutting air it got back to cutting the profile. All was going as well as it could when the vacuum hose attached to the CNC knocked a piece of forgotten plywood shim stock I had laid behind the spindle when I was clamping down a previous project.
When the plywood shim was knocked off it fell in the middle of the X axis wire chain loop and stopped the CNC in place while running. It made a noise I hope no one else experiences and the spindle rose up and started cutting the profile again only off 6 1/8” (You can see where the profile jumps and cut through the middle of the guitar).
The controller was on the other side of the machine when this happened so by the time I got to it the cut had gone the entire length of the guitar.
The CNC will not “home”
Both the X & Y axis will not stop. Another sound I hope no one experiences
The X axis will not stop at the “X-”(home) position and will only go about half way in the “X+” direction. The sensor just gets pushed out of position when I go in the X- direction
The Y axis runs the entire length Y+ & Y- but will not stop by way of the sensors. I have to push the stop button.
The Z axis will only go about half way up Z+ but all the way in down in Z-.
I've tried readjusting the sensors, but get the same result
The only thing I find in the “Troubleshooting” section that's close is a “possible cause” of something non related
“The stepper motors have slipped and lost position”
This seems plausible to me?
