One of my former scouts graduated from the Naval academy and chose subs. I heard all about the traditions of cribbage and subs and so designed and made this board for him out of Mahogany. Lid is held in place with two 1" magnets. Storage for cards and pegs (bought anodized ones that look really nice). There is a finger hole under the cards which both pushes the cards out and the lid off. One the back is lasered a submariners prayer. On the first version I was a little over-eager and drilled a hole right through the words...oops. I was also told that until the sailor qualifies on the boat, he is called a NUB ("Non-Useful Body" or some such) so I made a second lid that just says NUB in big letters all across and his name in small print. That way he can use it until he qualifies and then switch to the regular dolphin lid.

I think your project is unique, well designed and beautiful in it's finished form. Im sure your friend will cherish it forever. Thank you for posting. I always look at what other users are doing on this site. Sometimes the site seems like a ghost town for help or comments though. Be sure to post on Vectric's site. Users there would love to see it.

I love the layout. Did you use magnets to secure the top?

Showed it to my son (submariner) during Desert Storm, and he liked it also. I made a special plaque for my son so he could show all which boat he was on. Ill add it here, hope you like!!
