Hi
I've used my Iconic for wood and aluminum sheet a lot. Now I need to profile and mill Corian, 1/2 inch thick, profile, holes and pockets. Can someone who does Corian regularly please give me a place to start on the following?:
1. What's a good bit model to buy?
I just use the same spiral end mills that I use for wood
2. What's a good speed?
Like most plastics slow the feed down so there is no burning. 8 to 10,000 works for me
3. What's a good feed rate? (conservative not in a hurry)
50 to 75 inch per minute, probably can go faster
4. What's a good depth per pass?
1/2 the diameter of the bit similar to wood
I can adjust, but I figure I'd save myself some wasted pieces by looking for a fellow CNC'er that has more experience with Corian, first time for me hoping not to waste too much material on mistakes. Id like to start in the ballpark at least on speeds but have no clue what kind of endmill to use.
Thanks!
Rick
Corian is super nice to cut just set up to get nice shavings and not stress your machine, no need to over complicate
it makes nice puzzles
