Greetings. Has anyone had this issue? I will save toolpath files (VCarve Pro 11; Axiom HHC CNC *.mmg post processor)) in .mmg format. For example, after editing a Vectric CRV job file I might save these toolpath files to a folder on my laptop: V-Carve 1.mmg, VCarve 4.mmg, and VCarve 5.mmg. Then I will copy and paste the files to a USB.
I am working on an Iconic 6 router with a RichAuto controller. I plug the USB into the controller and press Run to read the USB. The screen shows the files, but they have been renumbered as V-Carve 1, V-Carve 2 (was originally saved as V-Carve 4), and V-Carve 3 (was saved as V-Carve 5). The sequential ordering is the same, but with several files it can get a bit confusing. Also, regardless of the saved name, the name that shows on the screen is only V-Carve and a number. That is, I might save the file as V-Carve 3 XYZ, but only V-Carve 3 will show on the screen.
None of this will keep me from running jobs, but I can't help but wonder why the files are numbered differently than saved, and if anyone else has experienced this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JRT

I think you are hitting the 8 byte name limit. 'V-carve_', is 8 char, so it numbers them 'V-carve_'+'1'
Mine are short names like:
.... 1st bit 1/4 downcut mill 1-4DM .... 2nd mill 1/8 mill 2-125M .... 3rd bit 60 degree v-bit 3-60V

Thanks Gerry, I appreciate the reply. I'll try different file names.
