Has anyone tried machining steel on an AR8 pro?

It not recommended.
The machines are designed for woodworking purposes and do not support the mechanical/rigidity needs of a steel milling machine. In addition, they are not designed for wet applications and machining steel in many ways will require a flood coolant or other lubricant that way present problems with the electrical connections not to mention the open bearings.
Machining non-ferrous metal on the other hand...such as aluminum or brass, can be done without lubricants when using the correct tooling and bit setup.

Thank you, Chad. I was specifically thinking of thread milling some 3/4" holes, but I will cave and buy some taps. Thanks again.
