Hello Everyone,
I have an Axiom 8 Pro V5 with a RichAuto B18 controller. I am running into an issue with the settings not being held once the unit is powered off. It is strange as not all settings will go back to the default each time. It seems different each time. When I created a test toolpath to see what is happening. The toolpath Job Size is 20" x 36". With nothing more than a simple star to carve. I set X,Y & Z to zero. I start the toolpath from the U-Disk. The gantry moves all the way down the table to the opposite corner until Y hits the stops. It backups up a small distance and I can the shape of a star that the spindle is cutting. I have removed the bit after the Z-Zero. So nothing is actually being cut. It acts as if the machine does not know where to begin the cuts. I cannot cut anything that I have created. Every toolpath I execute the gantry moves all the way to the Y and X positive opposite corner. I have attached the VCarve file in case you want to see what I am using to test with.
- I see a F 6 on the controller screen for the Spindle Status. I cannot find anything about that code. I don't know if it is even a code of any kind.
- I have reset the table size multiple times. Sometimes the mm settings will go back to 610 mm x 910mm. For a 24" x 48" work area size, the settings should be 610mm x 1210 mm according to the Axiom document
- Today on the first startup of the controller, the Z axis would not move correctly. It would step fine, but continuous would move about 1mm and then make a chattering sound. I moved the spindle to the middle of the work area, and the Z axis would do the same thing even after lowering the spindle part way down. There was no continuous movement. I powered off the machine and powered it back one. That seemed to take care of this issue.
- Yesterday while troubleshooting this issue, I had no Y axis. It would move only side to side and up and down. X and Z axis only.
- I have changed the memory stick after formatting a new one. Still the same issues.
- I have unplugged the controller, waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. Still the same issues.
- When I move the gantry across and down the table, the numeric values on the hand-held are showing really odd numbers. I cannot find what the numeric values represent. Are these values supposed to be in mm? I thought so, but all the positive X the screen shows 317.63. Moving the gantry all the way down the table in a positive Y, the numeric value shows 663.67 on the hand-held screen. I would think the values would read 610 and 1210 respectively. Z numeric value shows 150 on the hand-held readout. That is approx 6 inches, which is the correct value.
I cannot find anything listed in the RichAuto manual about the numeric values on the screen. I am assuming they are being shown in mm.
Is there anything that anyone can think of that I can check, or try?
Thank you in advance for your time, comments and suggestions.
