Very recently, I was working on another 24" round Plaque, which I thought to plane down, a bit, on my Iconic 8 (for surety of its flatness). All went well with that, save for the witness lines which were evident in the resulting process. Yesterday, however, I went about painting-in the text and graphics, of it, but the paint I bought (this time) was a bit difficult to sand off. My attempts at doing so was eating through my sandpaper like nobody's business, and I could not continue in that fashion. So, I decided to run through planing the surface, lightly, in hopes of shaving off the excess paint. I set up the same procedure that I did, before, but this time I could get nothing to happen. When I went to run the planing step, I received notice of the X- being Out-Of -Soft-Limits. Trying it again, after moving the board to a slightly different location, I would get the X+ Out-Of-Soft-Limits.
I remember, a while back, that gerry helped me out of an issue regarding Out-Of-Soft-Limits, and learned that restarting the CNC would serve to correct hiccups with that (when all else failed). This time, I have shut the CNC down, and restarted it more times than I can really remember. But all has (yet) been to no avail. For some reason, I absolutely cannot get my machine to run. This is very exasperating, as it was supposed to be a gift for a Pastor. Until now, I thought that I had a being confident in getting my machine to run, but this has knocked me down, a bit.
I just don't know what's going on.

If you're cutting a 24" circle, isn't that your max width? You'd have to home your machine, then use that as your MinX placement.

You know what? Yes, the project board was 24" round. But I had lost focus on the fact that I had reduced the carving area with a 1" inside perimeter - which reduced the working diameter. That, was brought back to mind when you mentioned what you did. I immediately ran down to my shop, after correcting that in the Vcarve software, and set up the run. Sure enough, the spindle fired up, and went about its business. Anxiousness can, sometimes, cost you time - and a fair bit of head scratching. I will focus on getting better at checking, and rechecking things, before starting jobs.
Thanks again.
