Hello, I ran into a weird issue last night. I was cutting a profile and for some reason the bit is cutting into all four sides when it does the tab. This is the first time I have seen this. It even shows it in Vectric so it's not my machine or clamping!! Any suggestions?? Attachments:

Hi Rob, sometimes I have had that issue when using the clip art tabs in Vectric, usually because I have the tab set too deep in the material or the component setting are incorrect. The photo you posted seems like you could use the tab settings in the profile tool setup and not need the 3d ones, I save these for odd shaped objects, your cut seems pretty normal and not needing 3d. Also there are many ways to do the same thing and you use the ones that are best as you learn them.
I don't know how many times I find something I have overlooked only to see it in the preview when I come back to look, the preview really shows what you will get and you are able to correct before cutting. Too bad its so much fun to jump in and cut stuff first, oh well the learning is the journey for me.

Toddd, I have used tabs on about 10 pieces so far and this is the first one that went weird. I had it set to cut just below the surface so I changed it to Z= and it didn't help. Bob, I just tried 3D tabs and it didn't change anything... I will attach the file in case anyone wants to take a look around. Thanks for replying guys!! Attachments:Board.crv (45 KB)

Definitely strange and no matter what I did I could not get that onion skin to go away. Tried 2D tabs, different tool, higher preview resolution, different location, different cut settings and each time that onion skin shows up. Viewed the toolpath with color shading off and can see nothing odd. Perhaps someone in the know could look at the g code and see whats going on.
I assume from your original post that you cut this out and that skin showed up also?
Maybe post to the Vectric forum. That group loves questions.

Rob, It may just be a matter of the simulation toolpath viewing quality. When I switched to the highest quality, the marks disappeared. Bob

It was very small so sanding fixed it but I don't want to have to sand lol

I tried that and it didn't change anything for me! Oh well. I might just try and redesign the whole thing. It's not like it's complicated.
