The other day - after finally getting my dust collector integrated with my CNC (Iconic 8), I attempted to flatten my spoil board with the pendant's internal program. I fought with that thing for the better part of an hour before accepting defeat, and called for technical help. I spoke with Chad, and It turned out that I was out of step with one action; after pulling up that internal file, I was hitting the 'Run' button, when I should have been hitting the 'OK' button. I was ok with 'User Error' being the issue, as it meant that there was nothing wrong with the machine. After thanking Chad, and hanging up, I went to get a cup of coffee before revisiting that job.
I started the process again - following every given step, and STILL wound up with an issue. This time, I was faced with the Z-axis being Out Of Soft. I tried things a few more times (knowing that I had followed Chad's instructions, but wanted to make absolutely sure), yet found that the failure persisted. I didn't want to bother Chad, again, and thought (before making another call) that I should just restart the machine, and see if that would make a difference. when I powered my CNC back on, and went through the very SAME steps, the spindle went through the flattening process without any problems. I LOVE my Iconic 8, and am not feeling any kind of negative way about it. But there's a reason why that happened as it did, and I wish it could be determined as to WHAT that reason was. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this, with their machines?

Did you set your Z to the top of the spoilboard before running the flatten program. It does not know where Z=0 is, you have to tell it.

The strange thing about it all is that the exact same procedure had been performed just prior to, and right after the shutdown and restart of my machine. The difference was that everything worked AFTER the restart, leaving me to wonder why it hadn't BEFORE then.

Restarting your machine resets HOME to the physical stops. If it got out of whack, then restarting cures a lot of it.
