I used Lyptus wood for these. I had purchased a board years ago thinking I might find a use for it in guitarmaking. It's a proprietary Eucalyptus species grown on plantations. It's really dense and straight grained - almost as heavy as Purpleheart, but not as hard. Worked pretty well for these awards (although I had a little bit of chipping on the deepest letters.) Single flute 30° 1/8" bit.

Those came out nice. The grain is really different.
