I am a Mac user and recently ordered Ar16 Elite. I am somewhat a beginner to design and software. Trying to shop for a proper PC computer to do my Vcarve design stuff in. This computer will only be used with the CNC router. I don't want to invest too much in it . I am looking at laptops, 15.6 inch I5, 4 core, with minimum of 8 gigs ram and at least 256 ssd hard drive. Am I in the right neighborhood? I was looking at no more than about $700 or so. Opinions?

You have more than enough processing power. Even the mostbasic will work. Anything more is just gravy. Faster recalc speed, faster load/save times, bigger hard disk etc.

You really don't have to spend more than $300 - $400 for a pc that will work just fine. I do most of my stuff on a 16# Dell laptop that I bought for $500 at Best Buy 3 years ago and it works just fine.

I have been running Vectric software on a Mac using Parallels for a couple years without any issues. So if you have a Mac, that's another option.
