I had/have a very strange issue today with my AR8 Pro.
I started with a very simple project and ran a profile toolpath to cut out the shape with tabs. Next toolpath was started using the same bit, this time a pocket toolpath. The pocket toolpath then ran and cut much deeper than I had selected. Thinking it was a mistake I made in Aspire, I went back to the computer and rechecked the toolpaths and went back to the machine to go again. Same results. So here is a list of what I've tried, to no avail:
-Aspire file is set correctly with the Job Size. Material is .125 MDF - Z Zero position is set to Machine bed
- Profile toolpath was set using a 1/8in EM to a depth of .127 and ran successfully to the correct depth. - Pocket toolpath was set using a 1/8in EM to a depth of .015 and it plunged to a depth of .1
- Using the Puck, I zeroed the Z axis. Same issue - Using a piece of paper, I zeroed the Z axis. Same issue.
- Pocket toolpath was recalculated in Aspire to a depth of .0015, .5, and a few others which all resulted in the same depth of .1
Machine was powered off, turned on, Home'd all axis, re-set the Z axis using the puck and nothing seems to change the results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ryan, A few things, First, I see that your screen shot, that you posted, shows your cut depth at 0.0015 but you say you want a pocket of 0.015... Also, in the mmg file, line 4 shows the Z depth to be 0.11. ( 2.794 mm ) Did you recalculate all tool paths ?? The machine will cut to the depth in the G Code. I would try recalculating or make a new file an see what the Z depth is in the new mmg files. Michael
