Welcome to the "Wonderful World of What The Hell?" I had the same issue. Chad solved it for me over the phone. I ended up relocating the spoilboards on the table AND moving the "Minimum X" limit switch.

When you turn on your machine and are asked to home, it will go to the front left corner. Put a bit in the router or spindle. You don't need to tighten it. After that, just jog the Y axis all the way to the back of the machine. If the bit is over the back end of the boards, you need to adjust them so the cutter is over the bed. Once you have the spoil boards adjusted it should be fine. What I did with my machine was to put a 60 degree bit in the router and start at the front left corner. start the router and then lower the bit so it starts to cut into the spoil board. Then all you have to do is move the router all the way to the right, then all the way to the back and then all the way to the left, then back to the front. You should have a nice scored line all the way around the perimeter and you then know exactly what your cutting envelope is. I almost always use the center position of my project for setting X & Y home. If the piece your cutting is longer that the area you scored, you will the the message saying out of soft limits.
