I am very interested in diving into the CNC world, and really like what I have seen and read about the Axiom products. I do have a couple of questions to ask the members here. With the Basic Series machines, what is the most popular choice of router to use? Also is it possible to retro fit one of the Basic Series with the water cooled spindle at a later date.
Thanks Lee Hitch

IMO...Buy your second machine first. Others on this forum have said the same. Seriously look at the Pro Series with the liquid-cooled spindle.

I have the AR4 Basic and used a Bosch 1617EVS router. It worked quite well. After about 10 months, I bought a 2.2kw spindle with the VFD. I then contacted Chad at Axiom and ordered the spindle mount that comes on the AR pro models. The spindle mounts directly onto the machine and aligns perfectly because there are alignment pins that will only allow a perfect mount. I went to my local big box store and bought all the fittings I needed and the tubing required for mounting. I also ordered a Sys-cool pump and a radiator just like the one pictured in the Axiom manual. Those items were from EBAY! This is the spindle and VFD I bought:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BTW4NQ?m=A3A1CXRHIIBHYY&ref_=v_sp_widget_detail_page I installed it all just the way it shows up in the manual. Wire was purchased from EBAY as well. The total cost was probably about $750-&800. So the simple answer is yes you can mount a spindle on the AE Basic series, but If I were going to get another CNC, I would just pay the extra money and got the AR Pro series. Collets are available everywhere, and I bought a cheap set online and after awhile, I bought a set from precision collets and 2 very well balanced collet nuts.
