Hey Guys,
Full disclosure - I am a Onefinity CNC user. (Don't hate me).
I am collaborating with a friend in Texas (Axiom Iconic 4 owner) on some carve projects and he's having a very difficult time with the MMG files I am sending him.
Everything I am designing and sending to him is done in VCarve pro. They carve perfectly fine on my Onefinity (NGC files). What I do is then save the toolpaths from VCarve to MMG - Using the Axiom Iconic 4 post processor. Then just email him the files.
When he tries to carve these, some of his carves appear to be about 6" off of the project home.
I did a zoom call with him and he appeared to do everything right:
Homed machine Set xy at the center of the project, set z Then start
What's strange is - its not happening with every carve. It only happens with certain MMG files. I've double checked and all the MMG files have the same project home, plus they work perfectly on my Onefinity.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Nick

There are too many reasons why this would most likely not work. Using gcode generated for one machine on another totally different machine?

As I understand it he's generating the g-code specific for the Axiom Iconic via Aspire's Axiom post processor. Is there any other place you'd get machine specificity?

Nick, When your friend receives your files and transfers them to a thumb drive for his machine does he eject the drive properly from his computer? Sometime operators don't wait long enough to download a file, and eject the file before it's been completely transferred. Bob

I just save the file to the appropriate post processor. I've even done two sided demos with this method. I would cut the top side of the project on my Shark at home, then the bottom side on the Axiom at the Rockler store. ...(I eventually purchased the demo Axiom machine.) Bob

To add to what Bob said...make sure your friend has erased any files bearing the same name from his thumb drive before uploading the new ones you've sent...and as he mentioned...make sure he waits long enough for the file to upload properly before ejecting the drive.
