I'm looking into purchasing an AR8 Pro+ so I don't have access to the controller and pendant or the manuals. Can the machine emit events or trigger other devices under certain conditions? For example, when a tool change is required, can the controller send a signal (digital or analog) to a device for additional action, like turn on a green light. I'm thinking of ways to run the machine partiality unattended and minimize the idle time while waiting for a tool to be changed. Sure a nanny cam would work but someone needs to check the camera. An event driven approach seems better, if it's available.
Thanks, Scott

There are some I/O pins that are currently un-used on the RichAuto control board....
However, the controller does not support tool changing. Or at least not in a way that we feel is safe.
If tool changing is activated within the controller....it essentially will run the first set of tool-paths (first bit) then raise up and move to a user defined tool-change position. However, it does not shut off the spindle....instead a tool change menu is displayed where the user will have to select to turn the spindle OFF.
Only then can the bit be changed, and a touch off performed to set the Z-0.
Then the spindle needs to be turned back on via that menu before the next step (tool-path) can be ran.
We can not support this feature for obvious safety reasons.
*Remember that even experienced users make mistakes and our ultimate concern is that a noisy shop environment may render the noise of a running spindle hard to hear...resulting in someone placing there hand in danger during a one of these tool changing operations*.
In addition we have found that this operation, due to the needed steps involved will not save any time over the standard operation where a single or grouped set tool-paths (same bit) is ran, and the machine is allowed to come to a full stop as is normal....then the toll can safely be changed and the next file selected.
If it helps, you may be able to setup a relay that powers a light anytime that the spindle relay is inactive....so at least you would be notified when a tool path is completed and the spindle is turned OFF.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
