Just installed my new AR8+ and i'm extremely frustrated at this point. I've had this machine for 5 days now and all I can seem to do is home it out, attempt to set the Z, and that's about it! I'm trying to run the mill plane file in the control, so I home machine out, plug in puck and set the Z axis, then go to run the program. Spindle fires up, Z then raises to roughly 5" off table, then starts to run the program. What in the world am I doing wrong here? I have a few calls into Chad along with an email. I really hope he contacts me soon as I'm really losing my patience with this $12K machine tool. Any help to get this newbie started will be greatly appreciated! It will also help to get the wife off my back for spending so much on a machine that I can't seem to operate...
Thanks,
David

Well, I figured out the fly cutting program. I was using the puck to zero out my z axis and apparently that wasn't the correct thing to do. I dropped the tool down to the spoilboard itself and then hit the Z-O key and then it asked, "erase Z axis?". I erased it and then ran the program. BAM!!

David, I am glad to see that you figured that out! Doubly glad to see that you shared the key information! This kind of stuff is not universally intuitive, and better documentation from Axiom would be much appreciated by many.
I am curious to know whether Chad ever returned the messages you left for him about this issue.

I had a similar issue when I initially fired up the AR8. I cant recall how high the Z was flying but here's what I did wrong.
I adjusted Z with the puck, but failed to notice when I created my design I had the orientation on the "bottom" of my material. So technically my Z axis was set at 1.75" high. Corrected my material "top" and all is well.
