Am having a problem with my pro 8. I have broken 2 v carve bits. When starting a project when I try and set z it goes down to the puck, touches it stops and hums. That is a far as it goes. It is not jamming down into the puck. it doesn't do this all the time. What breaks the bits is when it goes to start cutting sometimes it just dives into the work. I have cleaned the shafts tighten z drive collars tightened connections . Was supposed to get help from chad but thanksgiving is getting in the way, which I understand. Any help would be appreciated. Tom

Tom, Holidays are never in the way of getting help.
It sounds like the machine is slipping when lifting the Z off the puck. There are a number of reasons that this can happen such as speeds, lubrication, even an electrical connection.
However, while we sort this out you can set the Z axis manually to avoid the puck. The manual should cover that operation, but you can simply lower the bit until it contacts the material and then use the Z-0 button to set the Z axis origin.
We should plan to get one the phone at some point o check these speeds....or better, if you email our team with the size of your machine we can provide a file to update the machine making sure all those speeds are set correctly.
