Tried to grease the bearings on my 24”x48” cnc. Could the grease fitting be any harder to get to? Seems impossible to get my mini grease gun latched onto the fitting. Anyone else have these problems?

I had talked to Chad about this almost a year ago. He said to not bother using them and just oil the ball screws. I did notice that the fittings actually move some and you could probably turn them enough to get some grease into them, but I have been just using 3 in one oil on the screws and things seem to work just fine.

Hi Steve you are right the fittings do move but not enough to get a good connection. The 3in1 oil on the screw is a good alternative thanks for the tip

How often are you guys oiling the ball screws? I suppose there isn't a such thing as too often but any recommendations on maintenance cycles?

I do it every day when I start it up.

I have had my machine for over a year now and I oil the ball screws about once a month. Any more than that is probably unessary unless you are running it all day, every day. Then oil as needed.

I wipe them with a rag lightly to get any dust/debris off then wipe them with a 3 in 1 oil soaked rag. I do the same thing for the linear guide rails. I believe the manual says each day. I usually set mine up to cut multiple jobs each time so it may only run two or three times a week.
