i'm trying to put a line up groove on the left of spoil board. The problem is it moves to the right position drops down for .25" then it sounds like it is stuck for a few seconds. Then z raises and shut off, or raises and moves in a y- to the end of the table and keeps trying to run off the end. It just sit there clicking away like a gear slipping. Turn the machine off and back on it will not go to home position without moving the y manually in a pos. direction first. I'm running a AR 8 basic and Vcarve Pro 9 and zeroed everything at home base.
Thank you for any advise John

I'm guessing that you are running a Vectric program to do this? From what you've said, I'm not sure what the problem could be, however, an easy way to do what you want is to put a V bit in the collet, then turn on the spindle by pushing the <ON/OFF> button on the controller, then jog down (-Z) until you are barely below the spoil board surface, then drive in either the X or Y position with the spindle on. A while back someone posted that tip, so now, that's what I do to make aids for lining up long stock.

Traindriver Thank you for the info very helpful. I'm a newbie to all this cnc gig and have a lot to learn. I've had this machine since back in November and just getting to play with it due to health issues. But now I'm ready to make some customized saw dust.
