My boys were outside playing with scrap wood using them as swords and one got a splinter. I figured I could make this less likely to happen down the road. The swords are made from a standard piece of .75 x3.5 pine. All I did was line it up against one of the spoil boards and then flip it horizontally to cut both sides...no pins needed. I used a 1/4” round nose bit. The swords measure 20”. Pretty simple but they love them. The shields are made from .75x12” pine and are only one sided machines.

I use STL and obj really anything that aspire is compatible with, I just have to make sure it’s oriented properly when I import it. I was going to make that master sword, but wanted to machine all out of one piece of wood at the same time and the only scrap I had was 3/4 inch pine. The trick that messed me up initially was to make sure I left the gap below the cut in the the materials set up tab. So my dimensions for the model are .375 with a .375 gap beneath it. This allows me to flip the piece and end up with a 1/4 inch blade at the edge.

She just couldn’t understand why I left her undefended against the boys.

Now that people have seen the swords and shields they are asking me to make them some and everybody is requesting different designs.

Hey, if you're still sharing the files, my daughter, of all people, has expressed an interest in making a wooden sword. Maybe she's starting an arms race with her older brothers.
