i constantly have to restart the Elite to be able to read the usb drive, if I remove it after running a file and reload another one it will not read it no matter what position the selector is in when i removed the drive. . i have reformatted the usb drive without any improvement. I wonder if anyone has the same problem with the Elite

Yes, I tried three thumb drives that I had and bought a five pack of cheap 4 GB thumb drives. Only one of the five in the five pack works reliably and that is the one I use all the time. I do have the elite machine. What I got was the “KOOTION 5PCS 4GB USB Flash Drives Thumb Drives Memory Stick USB 2.0(5 colors: Black Blue Green Purple Red)” From Amazon. You may want to hedge your bets get the 10 pack.

I don't have a Elite, but I use Sandisk Cruser 4 gig. They work just fine on my Ar 4.

Thanks for the information. I did buy some 8gig new usb drives and thought the problem was solved but it happened again though not so frequently. I thought perhaps I had to switch the selection knob to jog or home from auto before removing the drive, some tyoe of “eject” but it did not make a difference. I will try your brand of drives

I must be lucky or something! I have several drives, 32, 16, 8, 4 and 2 gig drives and they all seem to work. I will say that the longest project I ran was 5 1/2 hours, but I didn't have any problems with any of them so far.

Don't just put all your files in the main directory, break it down by project so there are fewer files in each directory as I've seen controllers have issues when too many files or directories are in one place.

I have, as yet, not been able to get my machine to respond at all. I got it the 8th of Mar. I leveled the spoilboard in manual mode. Chad has been great. I am very computer illiterate. He even sent me a test file that wont run. He suggests getting a new thumb drive. I will do that. anyone have any other ideas? Any help will be much appreciated.

Bummer...I feel your pain...mine sat on the shop floor for over a week before I got it up and running so the controller works? Just won't respond to input? goes through the normal start-up routine? When it was my USB drive I'd get an error that said it couldn't be read or it just couldn't find it. I imagine you've checked all of your cables/connections and made sure that the controller cable was hooked up properly... good luck...fingers crossed for you

Ric, what was the reason yours finally started, or do you know? After getting the screw for the Z axis coupler that was somehow missed in "testing and inspection" I found my USB/thumbdrives were all too big...got the same message as you..."no file found"...so I got the SanDisk Cruisers mentioned above and they've been working great: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HR36OC6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You want 'old style usb'. like usb 2.0, 2/4/8 and maybe 16 GB. I use the above, but have a couple of 32GB that work. Definitely NOT 32GB.

Ric, Gerry, SUCCESS!!! Last night I found a 2.0 16 gig usb ( wal-mart cheapie) worked great. I have some 4 gig cards coming. As soon as i put the usb in the controller it displayed something like " flash drive ok" I had never seen this before. Thanks for all your help. Won't have to take my 10,000 dollar paperweight to the salvage yard. I want everyone to know Chad was great!

Yup.... I bought a handful of those sticks. I must have tried a dozen from the local electronics store, with partial success.
