Tried to flatten a warped board. Didn't set Z high enough and overloaded machine.
This is the illustrated guide to fixing it.
STEP ONE: Don't panic. It happens.
STEP 2: If the machine stopped, but the GREEN light in ON/OFF knob the front is still lit, there is hope. The Red Plunger may have just blown (protecting your machine) so just turn it and it should pop back out. If you have power, you are back in business. If not:
STEP THREE: Remove the screws from the white cabinet cover (6) and you may well see this:
NOTE How the second clear plastic holder from the top is lit up? That means the fuse is blown. You will need these 1/4" x 1-1/4" 10A 250V fuses.
STEP FOUR: Unplug your machine. You needed it plugged in to this point so you could see which fuse was blown.
STEP FIVE: Gently pull the clear fuse holder straight out. Once out, you can GENTLY remove and replace the clear glass fuse.
STEP SIX: While the box is still open, plug back in and check if the power works. In my case I blew the fuse AND the red plunger so I had to reset it as well to get power restored. Unplug, install cover and 6 screws and get back to making dust!
I suggest to ALL reading this that you order/purchase spare fuses to have at the ready because you will inevitably need them in the middle of a deadline oriented project (aren't they all?)
One Final suggestion: After re-assembly, I had a problem homing. My machine would move to the home position, but it would NOT go in the + direction (X or Y). I had unplugged the hand controller from the white box while working on it and some dust got in. I pulled the plug and cleaned both ends and plugged back in - FIXED!
Happy woodworking!
