The support staff at Axiom is fairly familiar with me, but I figured I would post some of the more common stuff here, and see if anyone can help me rather than constantly making a menace of myself.
That said, here's my issue. We just received 6 new I8R Long bed machines, I'm currently trying to upload files to them using the USB port on the handset (using the connector at the bottom). It appears to transfer ok, and otherwise treats it just like a USB Stick, unfortunately, when I recycle the power and the handset comes up, going into "Run/Pause" I get a happy face, or some kind of blank character. I'm guessing the issue here is probably a mixed unicode/windows 10 related issue that has to do with how the control pad is being mounted by the PC. I was debating formatting the handset FAT-16 to make up for the inability to use character names other than the 8.3 format of Ye Olde DOS.
Any help will be appreciated, I'm mostly doing setup today. Thanks.

So since it seems more than a few people are interested in this issue. I do have some updates direct from Axiom: You cannot put folders on the internal storage. While you can put files on the internal storage, it's going to be quite difficult to organize them if you have more than a few.
The associated issue, I anticipated my operators rather quickly smashing the protruding USB keys when they inevitably dropped the handset, and they haven't disappointed in this, they managed to break two of the 8 machines, in about 3 weeks. Good news, there is a screw on the back of the B11 controller that allows you to remove a USB extender, which is essentially a sacrificial part, this should allow you to replace it when it breaks. I am currently waiting on the Axiom sales team to get me a quote on replacements. I think the longer-term solution for us is going to be a CNC or 3d printed carrier that will hold an armored USB key that fits entirely within the handset.

I do not hold my controller anymore! I mounted it on a stand that is mounted to the side of the machine and can swing out of the way. It works great and I haven't broken a usb drive since.

I've been using a stubby usb drive, and have had no more problems with snagging on it. There have also been no issues with data transfer. Also, I designed this articulated arm for holding the handset. I can slide the entire arm from one side of the machine to the other. And, out and up, tilt. I may add another link to the arm for even greater extension. In addition, it would be very easy to modify the holder and "armor it up". Bob

Drew, I'm curious. Did you resolve the issue of dropping handsets? What was your solution? Bob
