My wife is the current President for our local Rotary International and they had their annual golf outing last week. She asked if I could make some plaques for the prize holes during the round. This is what I came up with. Desgined in Vectric VCarve Pro Pre-cut pin discs are 6.7” diameter and .625 thick bought at Joanne Fabrics Stained with dark walnut and relief carved .03125 end mill for the pocketing 30 deg vbit for the lettering

I like the way those look. I've been a little fearful of the "stain first, then carve" approach on soft woods because I was afraid that the "bleed" of the stain into the wood would show up as ragged edges on the lettering, but that appears not to be the case (at least with the 30 degree bit)

Those look nice. Did you design the golf ball yourself? This is something I made for a co-worker this spring (not quite done painting it). He rented out his house for Masters week (here in Augusta, GA you can get crazy money for that, depending on where you live/how many bedrooms) and he wanted some Master's themed decorations. The ball was from a sample .jpg of a bunch of golf related stuff.

I grabbed an image off of a Google search for the dimples on the golf ball and then deleted what interfered with what I needed to VCarve. I really like yours with the tee. This gives me ideas for a sign for hole sponsorship at next years outing. Hope you don't mind if I borrow the idea.

Excellent creative design work. The way they look 3D is exceptional.

Traindriver...those "Rentals for the duration" actually gave rise to the implementation of a federal tax law that permits you to collect rent on a personal home or vacation home for up to two weeks without paying tax on the income...since it's not unheard of for some of the bigger homes to go for $25,000, that's a lot of free scratch.

This one is smaller because I made a small one to begin with as a test, then just resized the vector for the real thing. Golf Tee desk.crv (1.18 MB)

Where did you get your .03 bit? I’ve not found a source for that small diameter.
