Greetings Everyone, I was thinking about posting some free project, including instructions....maybe once a month.. I have quite a library full of items and lots on new ideas. So, my question to the group is.... What type of project are you interested in seeing / using and would it be better as a VCarve or Aspire project ....or both ?
Looking forward to your suggestions Thanks Michael

Both would be nice, Michael. I'm sure anything you post would be appreciated.

Love the idea, would these be in addition to those projects that you share with Vectric? I've completed a few of your projects and am very grateful.
I have Aspire and would love to see a project that is modeled. I'm still struggling to create meaningful models.

My vote is for "true" 3-D modelling. Something of a reasonable scale that doesn't take 60 hours of machine time and 75 tool paths. I have Aspire & the 4th axis as well, and don't even know "where to begin" with that thing.

Hi Michael, I think anything you'd like to share would be appreciated. Pretty sure not everyone here knows that you are teaching many of the classes conducted at Axiom in Columbus, OH..... From doing so, I suspect you have a pretty good idea what your students typically have the most issues with. Having said that, there is a pretty wide spectrum of experience on this forum and perhaps the following suggestions will spark some discussion and/or further suggestions: - Basic functions in Vectric software for those who are just starting out. I am sure there is functionality in even the most basic functions that often get overlooked. Yes, most are probably covered in the Vectric videos but I find hearing something explained by another person to be helpful in almost all cases. - For those of us using Aspire, there is so much to learn about 3D modeling. Seems to me you could probably come up with all kinds projects and examples for that. - Specific examples / projects relating to new features in the 9.5 release last fall. Maybe pick a couple of the above and then alternate each month? My personal interest is generally about learning something new. So I actually consider the 'how to' or the instructions to be more interesting than any specific project.... So there you go.... My $.02

I'm in for some new ideas! It's nice to see someone who is willing to share a few projects.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replays and suggestions.
Let me I tell you a little about myself. I've been involved in the "Art World" from when I was in the 2nd Grade. My first major project was to create the backdrop for the school Thanksgiving Stage show... I had some really great talent helping me along then and still do today.
For the past 47 years I have a business that designs and creates items for the interiors of mostly religious buildings around the world ,,stained glass, mosaics, gold leaf and of course wood carvings. Which brought me to the CNC world. I have been using the Vectric software for over 10 years and I am also a beta tester for the company.
If you look under the "Help" tab and click on the "About" button you should see my name.
During this time with Vectric I have gotten to become great friends with Michael Tyler. One of the most creative persons I have met.
My thoughts were to offer a few tips and tricks based upon using the Axiom machines and then later to have a project that incorporate those items.. So these project would be directed at using the Axiom machines and their accessories..
We'll see how it turns out..
Stay Tuned, Michael

I was aware of both and have visited Michael Mezalick's web site in the past and just had a Senior moment.

As someone who recently purchased a second machine (first was AR4Pro, and my new baby is the AR8Pro) and a rotary axis to go along with it, I would like to see 4th/rotary axis projects, particularly the "cool" ones that really highlight/showcase what is possible.
As well, things like jewelry boxes that can be primarily made with CNC would be nice. I have seen plans that do all operations on CNC (for people with limited "standard" shop tools like miter saws, dado blades, mortise/tenon cutting capabilities, etc) or conversely, all operations are on standard tools, and it can be difficult to translate these plans using Aspire (I have heard that Fusion360 can change settings for all measurements if you make a change in wood th(ickness, length, etc... I forgot the technical term for this). Yes, it's a good way to learn how to use Aspire, but I don't have time for that, and it would be nice to use a template (CRV or CRV3D file) from somebody else and modify as neccesary, rather than starting from scratch.
Thanks for the generous offer, and I hope to reciprocate with designs that I come up that might be useful for others (CNC-made jigs or shop tools for example).

I'd love to learn how to create good 3D/2.5D models. I've used Aspire to covert some vectors & text into components, but would like to know how to create everything.
