I use a small Shop Vac for dust collection (mostly plastic chips). I don't typically generate all that much "stuff" so I didn't need a large vacuum, and the vacuum is on the same breaker as the Axiom mill so there were also some power considerations. Got tired of paying $$$ for all the filter bags so I wanted to install a dust separator. Unfortunately, the vacuum uses 1-1/2" dia. hose, which is kind of an oddball size. All the dust separator units I found were generally for larger hoses, so I built my own. Was happy to find that by using an ABS 'glue to slip fit' adapter and fitting a p trap drain shaft thru it, it perfectly fit the od/id of the hose. Ran a couple tests today and it works very well. I have an extra piece of hose leftover that I might mount to the inlet on the bucket to get a more cyclonic action to the air movement inside. Dan

Forgot to show the top of the bucket where the hoses slip fit, which was kind of the point of the post _

That looks like a great setup. Is that your garage!? I don't think I've ever seen a workspace that immaculate! I really like the floor!

Thanks! It's my storage unit/man cave... I may have the only unit with a satellite dish (also got a little carried away with the loft) The floor is Race Deck - nice stuff, easy to keep clean. Well... I keep it kinda clean, about the time I start tracking "stuff" home, the wife comes over and really cleans it! Attachments:

The boat should go back into the water the week of May 6th, but who knows - we had snow yesterday, sigh... I'd stay there longer if it had a bathroom

The table? you mean the mill? If you enlarge the picture you'll see it's right under the front center of the loft.

Ah... got it.
Mostly I machine parts out of King Starboard, a marine grade HDPE, and I can pretty much order all my material cut to size (+0.25" or so) from Boat Outfitters, so I can get away without the table saw. I do have a Grizzly band saw if I need to cut something out of an old drop of material or am working with plywood or MDF.
Also, have an old Black & Decker bench top drill press.
Thinking about getting a router table for when I need to radius over the edges of a part. I can do it on the CNC but it's slower due to all the re-clamping.
So... all in all, not a very well equipped shop, but it has just about everything I need.
