A newbie here, Do most of my machining on King Starboard (marine grade HDPE) and often need to drill small holes for 4-40, 6-32 and other threads. My smallest collet is 1/8" dia. so short of using 1/8 shank miniature drills I need a drill chuck. Bought a Dremel 7300 cordless rotary at Walmart for $20 and a Dremel 4486 chuck for $12. Took the armature out of the tool, cut off the motor and used a vice, drift pin and hammer to drive off the bearing and locknut (sorry didn't take a picture before I cut it apart). The mini chuck threads on the end and the remaining 7/8" long shank fits the 3/16" collet on my Bosch router. Now I can safely hold 1/32 to 1/8" drill bits... Dremel tools run at about 5,000 to 35,000 rpm so I think I'm safe at the minimum 8,000 rpm on my router. Attachments:
