A couple of questoins: 1. Does the WorkSpd on the pendant set the feed rate during operation? Or does it use the feed rate set in the gcode? 2. What would be an appropriate feed rate for a 1/4" carbide bit cutting in pine?

You will set the feed and speed rate from your software. As an example, if you're using Vcarve you can set the feed rate at 100 ipm then if that is to fast, you can slow the feed rate down with the controller. In pine, I would set the feed rate at 100 ipm. If for example, you're using 3/4" material and want to cut all the way thru, I would set the cut depth at about .125" and use 4 to 5 passes to cut all the way thru. If you are cutting hardwoods, you would need more passes or a slower feed rate like possibly 60ipm. You will simply have to practice on scrap to get the results you are looking for. Different bits will provide different results. Since that machine has a 1 H.P. spindle, trial and error will be a must till you get it figured out.
