Anyone know where you can get the Freud Tools data file? Been looking with no results on-line.
Thx

New to the forum, so apologies if this isn't the place. Hate to resurrect such an old post, but I just purchased an AR8Pro and a handful of bits to go with it. My first CNC. I have the data files for all bits except the Freud Double Flute Straight Bit (12-128).
I was not able to find the data file after scouring the net. So, being a noob, I want to set this bit up correctly.
Setting it up as an End Mill (?). Diameter: 0.5" Pass Depth - 0.5" Step Over - 0.2" - 40%? Spindle Speed - 18000 Feed Rate - 288 (According to Freud's website feed rate calculator) Plunge Rate - ?
Any help is appreciated.

.5” depth is pretty aggressive cut, especially if it’s what you call a slot cut. This is where 50% of the face is engaged when cutting. If your doing a profile cut there’s room for chips to go.
40% step over is fine.
Plunge ramping can be higher, straight plunging is usually around 1/3 federate.
Feed at 288” is fast, this comes down to machine and how well your Material is held.
We don’t know your cnc (stepper motors if pushed hard enough can loose steps or stall, verse a servo motor)your material is a big factor in tool parameters. Wood? Mdf? Plastic? All have very different tool cutting settings.

I’d be conservative, ramping in, there’s a lot of variables when it comes to this. Sound is a good indicator, chips or dust.
Try- Downloaded cnc cookbook, free 30 days has a hundreds of materials and tool selection. You can type in your machine limits and switch it to conservative to be safer. I ran through my tools and created settings for multiple materials.
This will give you a real time visual of things to see.
